About Snake

Snake revives the classic that came pre-installed on old Nokia phones: guide your snake to eat food and grow longer. This version wraps the walls instead of killing you on them -- slide off one edge of the grid and you reappear on the opposite side. The only real hazard is your own tail: steer your head into it and the run ends. It's endlessly replayable, and it keeps getting faster the longer you survive.

How to Play Snake

Eat food to grow longer -- the walls wrap around, so only running into your own tail ends the game.

Scoring

Each piece of food is worth 10 points, plus a 5-point bonus once your snake is longer than 10 segments -- so the exact same apple is worth more the longer you've already survived.

Walls Wrap -- Only Your Tail Is Dangerous

This version wraps the walls instead of ending your run on them: slide off the right edge of the 20×20 grid and your snake reappears on the left edge (and the same top-to-bottom). The only way to actually end the game is steering your own head into your own tail.

Speed Increases Continuously

There's no separate level selector -- the game speeds up on its own. Every piece of food shaves a little off the move timer (starting at 140ms and tightening toward a 60ms floor), so the longer you survive, the faster you have to react.

Controls

Arrow keys, WASD, the on-screen directional buttons, or Space to pause and resume -- whichever is easiest on your device.

Strategy

Since walls are actually safe here, use them on purpose to escape a tight spot instead of avoiding the edges out of old habit. The real hazard is your own body, so as your snake gets long and fast, leave yourself room to turn well before you need to.

Common Mistakes

Players used to classic wall-collision Snake often panic and swerve away from an edge that was never going to kill them -- and that panic turn is what runs them into their own tail instead.

High-Score Tips

Loop around the outer edge of the grid as your body gets long. A wide, predictable loop is far easier to steer at high speed than weaving back and forth through the middle.

History

Snake-style games trace back to the 1976 arcade title Blockade, but the version most people remember is the one pre-installed on Nokia phones starting with the Nokia 6110 in 1997 -- the version this one is modeled after.

Can I play Snake on mobile?

Yes -- on-screen directional buttons are built in for touch devices, alongside arrow key and WASD support on desktop.
