Word Guess is our take on the daily word-guessing format that made Wordle a household name: figure out a secret five-letter word using green and yellow clues to narrow things down. Unlike the original, you can play as many rounds as you like -- and unlike a fixed six-try format, your guess limit here actually shifts with your level, tightening from 6 tries down toward a 3-guess minimum as you climb higher.

Difficulty Scales Two Ways At Once
The word list gets harder as your level rises -- levels 1-10 draw from common, everyday words, 11-20 mix in trickier ones, and past level 20 it's trickier words only. At the same time your guess limit shrinks: you start with the classic 6 tries, dropping toward a 3-guess minimum at higher levels, so it's not just the words getting harder, it's your margin for error getting smaller too.

Strategy
Open with a word using common, distinct letters to gather the most information from a single guess. When a letter turns yellow, try it in a different position next guess rather than leaving it where it was -- it's confirmed to be in the word, just not there.
Common Mistakes
Repeating a gray (already-ruled-out) letter in a later guess wastes a try. Ignoring a yellow tile instead of relocating that letter is the other common way a solvable word slips away.
Scoring
Solving the word is worth a flat 100 points toward your level here, regardless of how many of your guesses it took -- there's no bonus for solving it faster, so use every guess you're given if you need to.
History
This format is modeled on Wordle, created by Josh Wardle and released publicly in October 2021, which was acquired by The New York Times in 2022 after becoming a global daily-puzzle phenomenon.
